Oh, it’s lovely up on…

Oh, it's lovely up on our roof deck on a summer evening. I don't know why I don't come up here more often. Oh, right, it's up two flights of stairs. But still.

All the doctor's appointments went okay -- Kavi got one shot (chicken pox vaccine) and Ellie got three (also vaccines). Kavi was much louder than Ellie in her complaints, and was fussy and listless for much of the evening, but that's to be expected. Poor munchkin. Ellie was a total trooper, although she did try to lunge into mommy's arms off the examining table at one point. But now I have given her a treat and she is entirely recovered. The vet did warn us that she shouldn't gain any more weight, but she was sympathetic when I explained that we have a toddler in the house who thinks it is just super fun to feed the doggie.

I have about forty-five minutes before bed, so I'm going to try to figure out what exactly should go on my department bio page. They say they're fine with my including whichever of my publications I want, which is wonderful in terms of academic freedom and departmental support, but I admit I'm still a bit hesitant to throw all the erotica up there -- in part because of the preponderance of naked people on the covers, and in part because it's just not so much what I do these days. The last erotica book I wrote was...umm...Kathryn in the City, I think? In 2002 or so? It's been a while. I think I probably have to put at least one or two of them up there; we'll see.

If you have opinions, feel free to let me know. Here's a link to the bio page for the head of the creative writing program at UIC, Cris Mazza, just so you get a sense of what they look like.

  1. I have a borrowed copy of Kathryn in the City. I’m eeking out time to read it. Once I do, I’ll be sure to return it – I hat it when people borrow my books and never return them. What I’ve read thus far is great!
