When I came home from…

When I came home from San Diego, Kevin had made beef curry empanadas for me. Yum yum. I graciously allowed him to have one -- or at least, I tried to. His daughter stole it right out of his hand. Mmm... curry! They were even mildly spicy -- it won't be long before she's chowing down on the raw habaneros, just like daddy...

Kavi loves her Lotta dolly, and drags it around with her. It's half her size. So damn cute. Adorable sundress courtesy Aunty Mirna, aka Chinnama (little mother, a traditional endearment for the mother's slightly younger sister). Sharmi goes by Seenima (sweet mother, or more literally, sugar mother). :-)

I've still had no luck finding a S. Asian doll for her -- not a Barbie style, but a soft doll. Big, small, I don't care -- please, if you have any ideas about where to find one, let me know? I'd also be happy to pay one of you craft-y folks to make one -- in fact, to make several, so I can give them as gifts to S. Asian friends of mine with babies...

  1. I vote for the little Barbara doll on Dolls Like Me. She’s cute! Or the Sri Lankan doll on the Ethical Superstore.

I’m not sure I like the term “beige baby.” What the hell does that mean? And those Ishababies are not cute.

I agree the Isababies are scary. So far, I think I like the Bindi Groovy Girl best (looking most like Kavi :-), but I think she only comes as a mini poseable? I can’t seem to find a regular or large size version.

Huh — I assumed that was the posable, but you’re right — it looks different! Yay! I’m going to go buy a dolly…
