So I think the interview…

So I think the interview with Cara of the Chicago Reader went well; she was here for an hour and a half. A lot of it was pretty factual -- when I did what kind of stuff, rather than detailed book discussion. It's interesting to me, how different some of these interviews are. I look forward to seeing how it comes out. The best part of the interview was when she looked at the author photo on Torn Shapes and told me that she thought I looked younger now. :-) I don't think I do, but it's nice to hear.

Also pleased to hear from Michael (publicist) that both the SF Chronicle and Time Out New York will be reviewing the book. Two more major media sources, yay! Hope they like it. I think we're still expecting a LA Times review too.

The last exciting thing for today is that my new bookcases arrived, so I now get to spend some lovely hours assembling them and finally finally finally unpacking my science fiction and fantasy. You have no idea how happy this makes me...

Okay, maybe some of you have some idea. 'Cause I imagine you're mostly big reading geeks too.

86″ high Woodwind series, from Room and Board. Three bookshelves comfortably hold all my sf/f, with a little room to grow on (I estimate roughly 1-2 yrs of buying).

    Now alphabetized. 🙂

  2. Mary Anne,

Have been seeing your book on display at all the big bookstores–it must be very exciting!

Also wanted to say that your interview in _India Abroad_ was very articulate and subtly enticing.

And one more thing–i checked out KGB bar where you will be reading in August (hope to meet you there!) and it’s a smallish place but great atmosphere and in a happening neighborhood.

    Ok, that’s it for now.

    Congratulations again!

Maya, I’m not sure I’ve seen the piece in India Abroad — you do mean that, and not India Currents, right? Is it easy to get a copy? I know I’ve heard of the publication, but I’ve never read it…

  4. Based on this, it’s in the current issue, although the article itself appears not to be online.

If this is the paper I think it is, I used to read the occasional issue, but I don’t think I’ve seen it since I left Queens. Not that I’ve been looking. (It’s also had a radical design overhaul, apparently.)
