Such a hectic day. …

Such a hectic day. Various items:

  • We went to see a mortgage broker guy out in the suburbs that our realtor recommended, and got him to start our mortgage application. Scary.

  • We ended up making an offer this evening on a place in Wicker Park -- there's another offer on it already. We'll see what happens. It's essentially a loft-style much like our current place, down to identical black-metal-framed windows -- but twice the space, two floors instead of one, plus a roof deck and narrow terraces. We'll see what happens. We're going to look at it again, and a few more places tomorrow afternoon.

  • Much of today was taken up by trying to make a decision on the cover for BiM. They sent me a new one, but also wanted me to reconsider the one they'd liked before, with some possible modifications in mind. Back and forth and back and forth. I'm going to sleep on it, and let Bob know what I'd prefer before I leave town. He'll let them know, and then they'll make their decision. I miss my old cover, but it's gone. If I didn't have all these proof copies and promo cards around, I wouldn't be so reminded.

  • I've been working on student responses, but I have a ways to go. That's pretty much what I need to do tonight and tomorrow morning and possibly Sunday morning.

  • I'm periodically having minor melt-downs. Crying jags, that kind of thing. Just overwhelmed by how much there is to do, how many important things I shouldn't forget. I have to pay taxes tomorrow before I leave town, and deposit checks, and remember to pack an umbrella and a swimsuit, and photocopy my green card so Kevin has it for the mortgage application, and call the hotel and arrange for someone to pick me up at the airport, and and and...
My stress scale index has gone from 176 at the end of February to 276 now. I need calm. I need a long stretch of calm with absolutely nothing happening but quiet work and relaxation. Kevin thinks that Sri Lanka will be that kind of break for me -- I don't know. We'll see.
