I was so wiped yesterday…

I was so wiped yesterday that I crashed at 9:30, woke up at 5:30 this morning. That's okay, though -- I feel like I've already gotten a lot done, and it's still way early here! I've made a nice spicy potato curry (to mash and serve with pita bread as a dip for tonight), and cooked rice to make into sushi (cucumber and california rolls). We also have cheese and crackers, and a yummy little chicken pate, but I am apparently consitutionally incapable of throwing an event without cooking for it. :-) Also this morning was finishing Rohinton Mistry's Family Matters -- very good, but also rather sad. And went to the gym! Hooray for the Y -- and especially for the nice Y guy who said I didn't have to pay. I think my Tolkien t-shirt may have influenced him. :-)

Upcoming plan -- jump in the shower, eat something, then run errands. We need to pick up some serving supplies for tonight, also print out flyers. And then make sushi! Gosh, I'm worried that no one will show...the place holds fifty, which isn't that many (I think I've got munchies for more like a hundred, but oh well). I know a few people are coming -- Jed said he was, and Susan Fry. And I assume more are, and just haven't mentioned it to me. But I don't know! We only need about 25 people to make back our costs on the event -- anything beyond that will actually go towards the award. But I'd like our readers to have a packed house. Fingers crossed! Wouldn't it be nice if we had to turn people away? (Okay, not nice for them, but you know what I mean...)

  1. It was Oakland; I actually prefer working out with men, which I know is atypical. I think it’s because they make me feel smaller. 🙂 Also, they tend to give me encouraging smiles when I do weights, sort of “good for you!” smiles. Like they’re startled to see someone so small and wimpy trying to lift weights, but they hope I keep trying. 🙂
