Yay, Christophe! So, he let me push the word count from 60,000 to 80,000 (which means him spending an extra $1000 for author payments and more for printing), and he says if I need to go a few thousand words over that, it's not a problem. So that makes my life much easier -- there are still some good stories I'll need to turn down for space reasons, but not nearly as many. I'm going to go out to a cafe now (it turns out that Whole Foods has unsweetened coconut, so I'm not going all the way up to Devon today, just to the Peet's cafe on North Avenue) and try and make my final decisions this afternoon. If all goes well, I should be able to send out acceptance/rejection notes by tonight, tomorrow at the latest. Hooray!
