Woke up today all…

Woke up today all stressed and panicky, for no good reason. There were some bad dreams about money, which I think just means I need to take the stack of Kevin's and my bills on the counter and actually pay them in order to keep my subconscious from fretting. There were anxieties about social planning, which doesn't make any sense at all, since I just had a fabulous dinner last night with masses of yummy food and much interesting conversation with Beth and David and Deb and Stephanie and Ron. And it's not as if I'm planning so much more -- there's a party on July 3rd here, and then there'll be a birthday shindig on July 13th or so in the Bay Area, and there'll be some sort of get together in London if I make it there in early August. That's like three small events. Spaced far apart. No reason for brain anxiety. And there was a bunch of formless anxiety and a conviction that I had gained masses of weight at dinner last night (gained none, according to my scale, hooray for skipping lunch) and just silly stress. I think I miss Kevin. I mean, I know I miss Kevin, but I think the lack of regular contact with Kevin is making me more stressed in the rest of my life. I'm not quite as addicted to having my boy around as some are, but I sure do notice when he's gone...

It'll be okay. We're scheduled to talk tomorrow at noon. He doesn't have a phone in the place he's staying, so we need to make appointments at his office -- irritating, but manageable.

Okay. So, Karen and Par and Tot get back from Europe today (they originally thought it was Tuesday, but they forgot the time difference stuff), and should be arriving at my house around 2 from O'Hare. They'll hang out for a while, may spend the night. So I'm going to close the window and turn on the AC (because it's warm now and heading up to 87 today), make tea, and try to write. I'm also hoping to go to the gym before they arrive. If I can do last night's dinner dishes, that'd be a big plus, but definitely not a priority. It's good to have the priorities in order...

Oh, and here's the big hit from last night's dinner; with six people, a half recipe of these Prosciutto, Asian Pear, and Date Canapes with Mint were just devoured. It's the mint that makes it amazingly good (and I had some nummy fresh mint in my little IKEA greenhouse), which I wouldn't have expected -- don't leave it out! No actual cooking required; it's just assembly. Mmmm....
