Relatively quiet…

Relatively quiet morning. Cleaned up a little, finished reading the Hugo novellas, about to put in my last votes and then send the whole thing off. Hopefully in time -- why, oh why do I always push things to the wire? (No, I don't really need you to answer that.)

Also sent out written critique guidelines for the two SH workshops. This week is basically preparing for those (not that I won't be doing other work too, but those take priority). I leave next Sunday for the East Coast; I'll spend a few days with my parents, then go to NJ to set up the workshop (buying groceries, cooking, etc). Which means that I really should do all my text prep now. That means reading the NJ stories, writing my critiques, preparing to lead discussions on craft, assigning some reading for the workshop participants so we all have some common stories we can use as reference points during the craft discussions. That last one is the next thing I'll work on today, I think. I suspect I'll just use some of the Hugo nominees -- they're readily available on-line, which should be easiest for everyone to access. And some of them are quite fantabulous...

I'm also quietly enjoying some of my presents. Roshani brought me a gorgeous jasmine plant; she says it should bloom soon. Fingers crossed. My aunt gave me a rather dramatic turquoise necklace, very hip. I may wear that today. Daniel brought me huge sunflowers; they're sitting on the kitchen counter, so cheery. I do adore birthdays muchly. :-) When they were singing "Happy Birthday" to me over my cake yesterday, I felt about five years old. In the best possible way.
