It was very grey and…

It was very grey and rainy all day yesterday, so I made leek and potato soup, which I'm going to have in a bread bowl for lunch today as well. Fannie Farmer recipe, mild but yummy.

So many projects -- I'm not quite sure where to start. I spent most of yesterday organizing and sorting so I'd be in a state to *do* the projects. I did start transcribing the Carol tape again, and I hope to do another hour of that today. Also need to revise a story, "Leek Soup" (a total coincidence, really), to submit to the Sword and Sorceress anthology, read and crit some stuff, write an essay for a women of color anthology, write a new piece for the Masquerade journal around Steve's photos, and oh yes, finish my thesis. :-) Okay, I don't *need* to do all of that, but I'm gonna try. We'll see how it goes...

I did take some time last night to read Dashiel Hammett's _The Maltese Falcon_, finally. (If you're wondering why I'm reading some odd books lately, it's 'cause I borrowed a bunch from Kevin last time I visited him). Not really my genre, as I suspected, but undeniably good writing, and I did enjoy the story. I really liked the ending -- brilliant. I feel as if one of the gaping holes in my education has been filled...

Oh, and here's an interview with Anne McCaffrey -- her Harper Hall trilogy was one of my major consolations as a child. If you like fantasy/sf and have somehow managed to miss her work, you really ought to check it out.

Right now, exercise, shower, and then some transcribing. Then lunch with David and Shannon, and then I can think about what to do with the afternoon. Hope y'all are doing well...
