Hey, y'all. Not too much exciting to report today. I'm in the midst of finishing up those news bytes (the ones that are overdue). I'd be doing them right now, but my other system went down, and I have to wait for it to come back up.
Spent a lot of time on the phone yesterday -- Kevin called, and we ended up talking for an hour and a half about some of the legal stuff that's surrounding the net nowadays. Interesting discussion, mostly about whether carriers should be liable for user content. If any of you are interested, I can try to summarize the arguments on both sides. Made potato curry for dinner, and made it too hot -- I could barely eat the darn stuff -- oh well. Was yummy anyway. Then Kirsten called, and we ended up talking for several hours, 'bout life and work and food and men...:-)
Read the new Starbridge novel last night too....I don't know if you're familiar with the series -- I believe they were started by A.C. Crispin (who has also written at least one fairly good Star Trek book), and they're very solid first contact novels. First contact is one of my favorite themes in science fiction -- it offers a fabulous opportunity to really explore the assumptions and biases of two different cultures (if I come back in another life, I wanna be a sociologist). It also brought back one of my favorite characters, Mahree, so it was especially fun to read.
As I said, dancing tonight, and I'll try to decide whether I want to go to Pennsic. The timing is going to be rather tight, as I'm a bridesmaid in my friend Elissa's wedding on August 11th, and I think the people I'd be catching a ride with are going up the 9th or 10th. We'll see...
